Position Overview:
The 3rd Shift Sanitation Lead, leads assigned sanitation team in their efforts to ensure the facility and its equipment are cleaned efficiently, safely and sanitized within Good Manufacturing Practices guidelines and waste is disposed in accordance with established plant and government environmental standards.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise team and participate in cleaning all facility equipment and building structures in accordance with established cleaning procedures;
- Supervises sanitation employees to comply with all applicable safety laws and regulation, as well as Company safety policies, procedures and standards;
- Organizes sanitation activities in a cost effective manner to meet all established performance guidelines;
- Delegates, organize, and prioritize sanitation employee’s daily tasks;
- Ensures consistent and fair application of company policies and procedures;
- Leads team in fair and ethical manner;
- Instills a culture of accountability within the sanitation team;
- Operates, disassemble, clean and reassemble all the production equipment in a safe and timely manner;
- Leads by example in attendance, safety, GMP’s quality of work, organization and follow through;
- Make suggestions for continuous improvement opportunities;
- Work closely with and effectively coordinate with production and maintenance to foster a team atmosphere;
- Operates within a departmental budget for labor and supplies;
- Adjust Sanitation Schedule as necessary to ensure proper cleaning and sanitation and provide proper feedback/data to support when items cannot be completed;
- Safely operates machinery and power equipment needed to safely and thoroughly complete sanitation tasks;
- Safely uses and dispose of cleaning agents and chemicals in accordance with established company practices;
- Coaches, trains and develop employee’s skills to operate, disassemble, clean, and reassemble all equipment in a safe and timely manner;
- Develops or assists in the development of sanitation job procedures; and
- Assists the Manager to meet departmental goals and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write, understand and follow instructions, communicated in English.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong planning, organizational and problem solving skills.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite).
- High School diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary degree or working toward degree preferred.
- Previous work experience in a sanitation position helpful.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including off-shift, holidays and weekends. .
- After thorough training, employee must be able to perform all the duties of the position as all sanitation employees must be cross-trained.
- Ability and willingness to work in extreme environments (including hot, cold, wet, dusty and slick places).
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds independently (on an occasional basis).
- Must be able to stand, climb (stairs and ladders), reach, pull, push, stoop, bend, hang, lift, and stretch as needed on a daily basis and be able to work effectively in elevated or tight spaces.
Food Safety & Quality Requirements/Responsibilities:
- Adheres to all Food Safety/Quality SOP’s
- Accurately completes required Food Safety & Quality records
- Communicates any known or suspected Food Safety/ Quality issues to the Q.A Manager and Department Manager
- Attend all Food Safety/Quality training sessions
- Oversees the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF System.
- Takes action to ensure safety and quality and communicate to relevant leadership to ensure effective implementation and maintenance SQF system.
- Reports back to Senior Management on the facilities’ compliance status through Management Reviews and/or meetings as necessary.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a general office environment where the noise level is usually moderate. As part of the job requirements employee may be exposed to work in cold temperature (-20 degrees) at times. Must be flexible with work schedule that supports a 24 hour production facility. Schedule may include weekends.
