The Human Resources Generalist uses their professional experience to support the overall strategic initiatives of the manufacturing site and the effective execution of daily administrative processes, enabling the plant to operate at peak performance. Key areas of focus include Staffing, On-Boarding, Training and Development, and Positive Employee Relations.
Key Performance Areas:
- Talent Management:
- Provides full cycle recruiting support for both regular and contingency workforce.
- Assesses potential applicants' skill sets against business needs.
- Schedules and participates in interviews, facilitating the candidate selection process.
- Coordinates the new hire onboarding process and maintains a database to track the recruitment process.
- Coordinates special programs and events for employees.
- Responsible for employee training.
- Performance Management:
- Monitors wage and hour rules, ensuring uniformity of compensation protocols and compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Champions people initiatives and collaborates on employee recognition awards/events to increase engagement and boost retention.
- Collaborates with the Safety team on workers’ compensation, health, and wellness initiatives.
- Compliance:
- Provides Human Resources guidance and support to Operations and employees.
- Advises employees and management on the interpretation of policies, programs, and procedures, and may propose improvements to enhance HR programs.
- Responsible for day-to-day administrative functions, project support, and ensuring timely project completion.
- Works closely with management and employees to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Maintains employee files, ensuring documents are accurate, confidential, and compliant with company policies and government regulations.
- Participates in employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health initiatives. Actively participates in safety programs, walkthroughs, and the safety committee.
- Maintains numerous Human Resources files and databases.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field; certification in Human Resources preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in manufacturing or production.
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws, safety, and training.
- Extensive working knowledge of California and Federal labor law, wage & hour, FLSA, EEO, FMLA, and workers’ compensation.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRM systems.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to consolidate data into concise reports and presentations.
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems under pressure; strong prioritization and organization skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and decorum.
