Position Overview: The Line Operator works independently and with other team members in a safe and productive manner, ensuring that the machine is properly monitored and operating adequately. The role involves monitoring changeover activities, making minor adjustments to machines to maximize team performance, and utilizing associated equipment for maximum efficiency. The Line Operator ensures product weight and labeling accuracy, maintains a list of all materials used, and focuses on delivering products of the highest quality while following regulatory guidelines for sanitation and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Follow safety guidelines and uphold the highest standards of food safety and quality by adhering to GMPs.
- Safely turn on machines using controls.
- Observe machine functions to ensure finished products are packed according to company standards.
- Adjust machine components and pressure based on the size and processing of the product.
- Operate and tend to the packing machine.
- Check the production line to prevent pileups and blockages.
- Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, and notify the line lead or supervisor once the issue is clarified.
- Sort and store products to pack, use the operating machine, and refill packaging materials, including film and ink.
- Inspect packaging materials and remove defective articles.
- Clean and safely remove damaged materials.
- Visually check for leftover products on equipment, conveyors, catwalks, and surfaces.
- Remove finished packaged products from the machine and separate defective articles.
- Clean and grease filler pistons.
- Ensure pumps are in good working condition.
- Inspect the operational function of the steam and air lines for running the line.
- Check machines for correct settings.
- Verify schedules to ensure the correct rolls of film are loaded and be prepared to replace incorrect rolls promptly to prevent downtime.
- Rinse, wash, and sanitize equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Production Supervisor or Line Lead.
- Attend all company training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in English; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends.
- Strong attendance and safety record.
- Strong multitasking skills.
- Food industry experience preferred.
- Basic math skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to meet the physical demands described below.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two-three years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Food Safety & Quality Requirements/Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all Food Safety/Quality SOPs.
- Accurately complete required Food Safety & Quality Records.
- Report any known or suspected Food Safety/Quality issues to the QA Manager and Department Manager.
- Attend all Food Safety/Quality training sessions.

Work Environment:
- The job is normally performed in a warehouse/production environment. The employee may be exposed to production settings and cold temperatures (-20 degrees) at times.
- Flexibility with work schedules is required to support a 24-hour production facility, including weekends.
