Position Overview:

The Line Packer is responsible for the packing and visual inspection of finished goods during packaging.

Responsibilities:


  • Feed unwrapped bars into flow wrapper machines and wrapped bars into cartons.
  • Conduct visual inspections of the finished product before packaging.
  • Advise the line supervisor of any quality issues, such as discrepancies in size, color, shape, and weight.
  • Dispose of non-standard products into appropriate waste bins.
  • Remove lightweight and irregular products.
  • Check for the correct code dates on wrappers, labels, and cartons.
  • Assist with packaging on other lines as needed.
  • Help pack variety packs.
  • Assist with the training of new packers and temporary workers.
  • Abide by Plant Rules and Regulations as described in the Employee Handbook.
  • Complete tasks and projects as required by the company.
  • Must work overtime as needed.
  • Notify the Group Leader of any suspicious persons or incidents related to plant security.
  • Support changeovers as required between products.
  • Fill out all required paperwork.
  • Perform quality checks as outlined in the key checkpoint matrix.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Maintain a high level of sanitation and GMPs.
  • Safeguard and maintain company equipment and property, including Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure all areas are kept clean at all times.
  • Attend all company training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Strong multitasking skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions.
  • Food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands described below.

Food Safety & Quality Requirements/Responsibilities:


  • Adhere to all Food Safety/Quality SOPs.
  • Accurately complete required Food Safety & Quality Records.
  • Communicate any known or suspected Food Safety/Quality issues to the QA Manager and Department Manager.
  • Responsible for reporting any food safety concerns or product tampering.
  • Attend all Food Safety/Quality training sessions.

Physical Requirements:


  • Physical Demands: The employee must stand for long periods, walk frequently, lift materials up to 50 pounds, and frequently twist, turn, reach, push, and pull. Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must be able to talk and hear.
  • Work Environment: Work is normally performed in a warehouse/production environment. The employee may be exposed to a production setting and cold temperatures (45 degrees) at times. The facility regularly processes known food allergens, including peanuts. Must be flexible with a work schedule that supports a 24-hour production facility, which may include weekends.
