Position Overview:

The Relief Route Sales Representative (RSR) will be filling in for scheduled vacations, unexpected absences and provide additional route coverage. When not training or learning each of the routes, the Relief RSR will be required to provide merchandising support. The Relief RSR must establish good business practices that will enable route to grow to potential. Relief RSR must commit to excellent attendance and punctuality as they must meet deadlines and ensure timely deliveries. Relief RSR works closely with customers and support all sales initiatives to achieve expectations. The Relief RSR is responsible for account development with regards to ordering, merchandising, and display opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Solicit new business;
  • Provide vacation, sick time and floating holiday relief for the route sales representatives providing a seamless delivery experience for the customer when working on a route
  • Merchandising store displays to ensure proper inventory, pricing, and date code rotation
  • De-ice and clean freezer and display equipment on a daily basis;
  • Load truck with daily product to be sold as well as unload product for customer;
  • Perform routine inspection of company vehicle and supplies to ensure road safety.
  • Maintain Inventory of daily merchandise loaded on truck.
  • Prepare and maintain records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Plan route to and from customers businesses and adjust for traffic and/or construction.
  • Handling routine customer problems and serve as interface between company and customer.
  • Ensure that product distribution is accomplished to customer satisfaction in agreement with any contract terms and requirements.
  • Working closely with manager and salesperson to improve route efficiency and expand existing customer relationships.
  • Operation of vehicles in accordance with OSHA and DOT requirements as well as local, state and other federal requirements.
  • Maintenance of acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Safeguards and maintains company equipment and property, including Personal Protection Equipment (PPE);
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be available to work a mandatory work schedule of Monday through Saturday to fulfill business demands
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills required to handle internal/external customer needs
  • Experience in direct business to business sales (at least 2-3 years) both growing current customer relationships and generating new customer relationships helpful
  • Must be able to obtain or possess a Class C Driver’s License and good driving record
  • Typically Service-oriented and dependable
  • Strong organization skills
  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen and background investigation
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
  • Able to meet physical demands in work environment as generally described below

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two-three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Food Safety & Quality Requirements/Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to all Food Safety/Quality SOP’s
  • Communicates any known or suspected Food Safety/ Quality issues to the Q.A. Team Leader
  • Attends all Food Safety/Quality training sessions

Work Environment:

Work is normally performed in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery and/or loud noise. Schedule may include weekends and holidays.
