Position Overview:
The Transportation Clerk is responsible for the timely and accurate scheduling of local deliveries & pickups, tracking and reporting of all freight expenses, auditing and reconciling freight invoices for accuracy and resolving freight claims. The goal is to assist the Transportation Manager and team to deliver quality and service expectations within budget.
Responsibilities:
· Schedule local deliveries and pickups
- Collect all information needed to calculate freight expense (orders, rates, BOL, POD, etc.)
- Reconcile paperwork & obtain accurate proof of deliveries for all deliveries
- Collect and enter invoices into databases, within predetermined time constraints
- Compile, verify for accuracy and sort information to prepare source data for computer entry
- Research and obtain further information for incomplete invoices and reports
· Issue detention charges to our 3rd party warehouses
· Maintain Fuel DOE index in database
- Assist in auditing drivers trips for driver pay
- Maintain accurate and easily accessible files
- Scan documents and print files, as needed
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as billing clerk or general accounting experience
- Knowledge of transportation or logistics
- Proficient in MS Office
- Excellent math ability
- Proficient organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Accurate keyboard skills
- Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced work environment
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma: further education will be a plus
· Transportation: 1 year (Preferred)
· Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
· Microsoft Excel: 1 year
